CIP1 Paint Inspection & Approval Process

Certified inspectors ensuring coating quality, compliance and long-term protection

Introduction to CIP1 Paint Inspection

The CIP1 (Coating Inspector Program – Level 1) inspection process verifies that painting and coating work meets strict standards for surface preparation, application, curing and final performance. Our certified inspectors follow internationally recognised guidelines to verify coating quality and ensure long-term protection.

Our CIP1 Inspection Services

Surface Preparation Inspection
  • Verification of blasting/cleaning profiles
  • Measurement of surface profile (anchor pattern)
  • Chloride & contamination testing
  • Visual assessment for defects and cleanliness
Environmental Condition Monitoring
  • Dew point, humidity & temperature readings
  • Substrate temperature verification
  • Continuous monitoring during application
Paint Application Inspection
  • Batch number & shelf-life checks
  • Mixing ratio and induction verification
  • Wet film thickness (WFT) measurement
Dry Film Thickness (DFT) & Defects
  • Electronic DFT readings per specification
  • Multiple readings across all areas
  • Identification of thin spots, pinholes or holidays

Inspection Process — Step by Step

1. Pre-Inspection Meeting

Review scope, confirm coating system and agree on inspection checkpoints.

2. Surface Preparation

Confirm surface cleanliness and profile (e.g., SA 2.5) with tests and measurements.

3. Environmental Checks

Record dew point, temperature and humidity to ensure suitable conditions for application.

4. Application Monitoring

Monitor WFT, mixing, application technique and watch for defects during application.

5. DFT Measurements

Perform post-cure DFT testing and record multiple readings across the substrate.

6. Final Sign-Off

Produce the CIP1 report with photos, measurements and provide acceptance or remedial actions.

Safety, Compliance & Documentation

Inspections follow ISO 12944, OEM specs and manufacturer guidelines. All safety protocols are observed on site.

  • Detailed inspection reports with photographic evidence
  • Test results and measurement logs (WFT/DFT, contamination, profile)
  • Defect identification and recommended repairs
  • Final acceptance certificate and sign-off
